What is Laser Scanning?
Laser Scanning is a new Lidar (Light Detection & Ranging) Technology.
Using our Proprietary Terrestrial Laser and Drone Base Photogrammetry solutions, we are able to build full 3D "PointClouds" with exacting measurements of Real World Scenes and Objects.
Not all PointClouds are the same!
Our Laser scanners give a full 360° scan, with a measure radius from the scan position of 70m giving a total of 140m coverage per scan. We can take multiple scans and "Stitch" these back together with accuracy to form complex and detailed PointCloud projects. We have Scanned Building & Plant projects with many Hundreds of individual scans!
Or using Drone and GNSS RTK Survey Based Technology we can capture entire Civil Sites, Farms or Engineering Plants!
We can deliver these 3D "PointClouds" in almost all industry standard formats, including Autodesk Recap. Autodesk Recap RCP & RCS files can be directly inserted as a measurable 3D Object in common Autodesk applications, such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Civil 3d etc.
.e57 pointclouds or .LAS PointClouds can be inserted as measurable objects into almost all modern 3D & CAD Applications, SolidWorks etc.
The Scanner captures High Quality PointClouds as well as High-Res 360° photo images. So your project can be viewed as a PointCloud or as orbitable 360° Full colour images.
We can even save your data to our online portal where you can view, measure, and analyse your data with just your normal Web Browser. No special applications or CAD software required!

Industrial Building, Scan for Earthquake Strengthening:
We scanned the complete site, all 6 levels, Roof and inner workings, every nook and cranny of this local famous building for a local Engineer. The Engineer was able to produce a full 3D model of the building from the PointCloud with all beams and columns exactly to size and scale, of what was there, including floor penetrations etc.
The Engineer was able to then use the model in full Engineering Analysis to prove the building could meet the required standards to be used into the future, saving the client millions of dollars in a new site.

Industrial Tanker:
A local Contractor was having a new Pump designed for his tanker, but the manufacturer was in England!
We Scanned his tanker in the area of interest and sent the PointCloud to 'Ol Blighty' in AutoCAD format. The Supplier was able to custom design a new Pump, complete with mounting and required clearances that could be bolted directly to the tanker upon arrival in NZ.

PointClouds in CAD:
Full 3D Pointclouds in CAD! To scale and accurate! Parts of the pointcloud can be clipped away, and replaced with 3D models to show a new design or layout etc.
Scale doesn't matter, we can combine our Drone Pointclouds and images with our Terrestrial Laser Scans to create entire sites, Indoors/Outdoors or even city sized! Below examples are Pointclouds in CAD designs by us!

Heatmap Advantages:
Laser Scanning is highly accurate, so there are many advantages to having complete and accurate data. It can be used as CAD objects, or viewed and analysed by anyone, even with an online viewer for example.
Had a concrete slab poured? Need to know the floor is sloping to the correct locations and sumps before progressing?
A laser scan heatmap can show you exactly where humps/hollows/slumps/slopes are all at an easy glance!
It doesn't have to even be a floor, walls, building columns etc can all be analysed and displayeed with heatmaps!

Bluff - New Boat Ramp & Pontoons:
The piles for the new Boat Ramp and pontoons were driven into the seabed. We worked with the local Engineering Team who were tasked with Design & Build of the new Pontoons, to be made to suit the piles as driven on-site. When driving Piles off a barge, not all measurements can be to exact tolerances and some allowance had to be made for any piles that might not be perfectly vertical etc.

Fire Damaged Building:
A local business had a building badly damaged in a fire. A local Engineering team was tasked with finding what might be able to be saved vs the high cost to remove and rebuild everything.
The CpEng Engineer needed to know how stressed and damaged the Tilt Slab panels were after the partial collapse of the buildings Portal Frames and Columns which were twisting the slabs in/out.
We were able to laser scan the building and provide a heatmap of movement deviation, in both Positive and Negative, from a base plane, to show the movement and importantly how much "Twist" each tilt slab had been subject to.
The result was an informed decision and cost savings of what might be reused vs what would be replaced.

We were asked to Scan this Industrial building for a local Engineering firm.
Working on Earthquake Strengthening of the building, with limited data for the existing Portal Frames, the Laser Scans allow the Eng Design Team to easily build a full existing "As-Built" model of the Steel Work and Portal Frames as they exist now, and 3D model all new design changes into it for Eng Analysis and Manufacturing Drawings.
